Dagon Illustration

Finally finished this piece after restarting several times. Rocks are not something I usually paint, for reference I looked at pics of the Giants Causeway in Ireland, it was almost exactly what I imagined when I read "Dagon".

Final Concept

If anyone has any crits I would be glad to hear. I've got one day before the contest is over. This is the text I took the description from

"Then suddenly I saw it. With only a slight churning to mark its rise to the surface, the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith, about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, the while it bowed its hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds. Dagon WIP

Concepts for Dagon, one of my favorite Lovecraft creatures. When he swims he tucks his arms on to his sides and spreads his webbed hands out like fins. He swims the fastest like a water snake, but he can also swim backwards or vertically like the bizarre oarfish. On land he drags himself around with hims arms extended.
